After a no-holds-barred debut last year, the mighty Defqon.1 festival will again transform the Sydney International Regatta Centre this September. The 2009 edition drew ecstatic praise for its towering production and authentic Defqon.1 atmosphere, so its return is thrilling news for hard dance fans.

The 2009 line-up also held up to its Dutch counterpart, with Brennan Heart, Proteus, Donkey Rollers, The Prophet, Jowan and The Viper leading the charge across five stages. As our photo gallery proves, the scale of production was, in a word, epic – with enormous stage-sets, pyrotechnics, light shows and powerful sound-systems. Prepare to be awed all over again.

Q-dance brings the Defqon.1 festival back to Sydney bigger and better at the Sydney International Regatta Centre on Saturday 18 September.

Due to the earthquake that struck Chile last week ID&T and Street Machine, producers of the event, with the support of Entel and BlackBerry, the main sponsors, have decided to postpone the show. The new date is April 30th 2010.

In order to support the reconstruction of Chile, ID&T and Streetmachine, in alliance with a Non Profit Organization, are preparing an auction where fans will be able to bid for different products and experiences related to Sensation, such as: special tickets, signed CD´s from top international DJ’s and exclusive products brought specially from Holland. More information on this auction will follow soon.

For those who already bought their tickets and cannot attend Sensation, they can opt for a refund at Puntoticket stores starting 8th March till 31th March. Ticket sales will continue at the following prices:
General: $48.000 y $ 38.000 if you are an Entel client
Deluxe: $70.000 y $56.000 if you are an Entel client

Regarding the lineup, there is no certainty that the same DJ’s announced for March 13th will be able to perform. Any changes will be announced as soon as possible.

In summary, Sensation is postponed to April 30th; the venue “Estación Mapocho” Train Station is maintained. Streetmachine and ID&T are grateful to all their fans for the comprehension and immense support received across their web, mail and social networks for this decision.

March 4 and 5, the Dutch cities of Leeuwarden and Groningen will be under the spell of Armin’s tracks. But not the way they’re used to. American composer Tom Trapp translated Armin’s tracks into classical compositions, which will be played by the Noord Nederlands Orchestra. From ‘Communication’ to ‘Serenity’ and ‘In & Out of Love’, a big selection of his catalogue will be translated into classical compositions and played live by the orchestra. A very special happening, for which the chairs will be removed from the auditorium and a stunning laser show is set up.

Armin:” I think this is a great initiative. Two different worlds that seem difficult to join, but I believe that this can lead to something new. I strongly believe that the NNO is doing a great job with this ambitious idea. There’s been a lot of flirting between these two styles (classical and trance), but for the first time this is really happening. Fantastic! I hope these concerts opens doors to those who normally don’t open these doors. I am convinced that trance lovers also love classical music en vice versa.”

Gigs
On the gig front it’s going pretty damn good too! With Trance Energy coming up fast now, the schedule is filling up rapidly. Daniel just had really nice gigs in the City of Lights: Paris and right after that; Germany and Northern Ireland. The next stops will be Ukraine and Miami for the WMC. Right after Miami he has a few days to fresh up and then Daniel will play at the biggest Trance event in the world; Trance Energy!! Plenty more in the pipeline too – hope to give you an update on some more cool gigs very soon.

New releases
After his great success with his recent “Pretoria” release it’s been remix request heaven down at Wanrooy junction. Before they all came tumbling in though, Daniel managed to finish new tracks and is pleased to report that they’ve been picked up by Black Hole Recordings, Spinnin’ Records and…. High Contrast! This is Wanrooy’s official debut for High Contrast – a very respected label, which has been in the electronic dance industry for time now. It’s a great honour to be part of it. More info and release dates coming soon!

Remixes
As mentioned above though things have shifted heavily to the remix end of my studio desk of late… Daniel Wanrooy’s remix of Space Rockerz ‘Weather the Storm’ has just been released on Black Hole Recordings, picking up some tremendous support along the way (including Armin, who played it on of A State Of Trance!).

Daniel also finished the remix for Thrillseekers on his already fantastic ‘Savanna’ for Armada Records. The release date will be announced later, but this release will be Huge, with a capital ‘H’! Following that Daniel went straight on to his remix for Lange Recordings; this one has a more techy drive to it and it’ll do some serious damage on some dancefloors… Last but no means least Daniel Wanrooy did one together with his friend and colleague Mark Green for The Crystal Method – a huge band from the US. It is just released on Black Hole Recordings and Ferry Corsten already played it in his Corsten’s Countdown, as well as Tiësto, who supported it in his Club Life show at the biggest Dutch radio station, radio 538.

Champagne for everyone – cause Armin van Buuren has been distinguished with a Gouden Harp award, the highest distinction a Dutch artist can get! Last night, during the Buma Harpen Gala, the DJ/producer received the important prize.

Candy Dulfer, saxophonist and Gouden Harp-winner of 2008, presented the much wanted oeuvre-prize to Armin. The Gouden Harp (‘Golden Harp’ in English) is an award for music composers and artists that made an extraordinary contribution to Dutch music. Some of the previous winners are Krezip, Within Temptation and Ilse DeLange, artists with who Armin has collaborated with. After the presentation, Armin gave a performance with VanVelzen and Within Tempation lead singer Sharon den Adel, supported by the Metropole Orchestra.

The Gouden Harp, that’s been awarded since 1962, is part of the Buma Harpen Gala. The Gala is an initiative of Buma Cultuur, founded by Buma/Stemra; the institution that takes care of the interests of music authors in the Netherlands. Buma Cultuur plays a big part in the promotion of Dutch music in and outside of The Netherlands.

Saturday 13 March 2010 Hasselt will be coloured completely white for the sixth Belgian edition of Sensation. After 4 sold-out editions in the Antwerp Sportpaleis, last year Sensation moved with roaring success to the Ethias Arena in Hasselt where the Ocean of White took place, with an 80-metre-long fountain show.

The new world tour kicked off in July 2009 in Amsterdam, and the new Sensation show acquired the name “Wicked Wonderland”. It takes the visitors on an adventurous journey full of mysterious and sensual discoveries.

Sensational experience
Sensation by organizer ID&T has blossomed into a nightlife perception with an international ambience, where performances, music, acrobatics, dancing and fireworks occupy centre stage. Through a strictly observed white dress code, the public becomes part of an impressive setting too. Wicked Wonderland takes the visitors on an adventurous journey full of sensual discoveries.

For this edition the Ethias Arena has once again been utilised to the last millimetre. Just as last year over 18,000 visitors are expected. So prepare yourself for an effervescent show bathed in the best beats, delivered by top international artists.

Name & fame
Just as every year, ID&T caters for an impressive line-up starring numerous international dee-jays who can charm the public with danceable beats and very latest mixes. During this edition the Parisian night prince Martin Solveig with his fashionable tunes will certainly appeal to the female public. Moreover, the Swede Sebastian Ingrosso who is part Swedish House Maffia, famous for hits such as “Leave the world behind” will present a performance out of this world. Furthermore, the visitors can expect Mr. White and the Dutch deejays Erick E and Sander van Doorn. Sander van Doorn was recently named by dee-jay Mag as the 10th-best dee-jay in the world.

International flair
Five years ago Belgium was the very first country where Sensation took place beyond the Dutch border. In the meantime Sensation has blossomed into an international phenomenon. The Wicked Wonderland edition now takes place on 4 continents and in more than 17 cities including Madrid, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Prague, Sao Paulo, St Petersburg and Melbourne.

Sensation’s success does not remain unnoticed internationally. Sensation has already received several awards throughout in the world.

In Denmark, Sensation received among other honours the DJ Award 2008, Best Club Event and an Ibyen Award in the category Party or the Year 2008. This year, with the “Ocean of White” show in Germany, during the Live the Entertainment Awards 2009, Sensation came first in the category “Best New Style Event”.
