Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk have collaborated on a track called ‘Remember Love’, an homage to the 21 victims and visitors of the 19th edition of the world-famous Loveparade event. All proceeds will be donated to charity.

The Loveparade tragedy

July 24th 2010 is a date the dance scene will never forget. At the Loveparade, celebrated in Duisburg, Germany, more than 500 people were injured and 21 people were killed after panic broke out due to overcrowding in the tunnel entrance of the festival terrain. The Loveparade attracted more visitors than it could handle, resulting in mass hysteria and the death of 21 young dance lovers. Organizer of the Loveparade, Rainer Schaller, declared that this has been the final edition of the legendary event, that on average attracted a million dance-lovers to its yearly editions and had its first edition in 1989 in the city of Berlin. The dance scene, along with its DJ’s, has been in shock ever since and to help remember the spirit of the famed dance event, three world-famous DJ’s have now united to create awareness and support the victims family-members and persons injured.

How ‘Remember Love’ got into being

Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk have all played on several editions of the Loveparade, some of them even in the early years, when the Loveparade was still held in its original concept, in Berlin. They joined forces to produce a track, ‘Remember Love’. The initiator of the track, was Paul Oakenfold. “I think the Loveparade represents a big part of the essence of the dance movement”, he explains.“It’s a gathering for people from all over the world to come together to share their love for electronic music. I was watching television and a newsflash came up about the Loveparade. I really felt for the people that were there. I just thought we should do something to help them. In many other music genres artists come together, like ‘Live Aid’ and after the Haïti-disaster. We should do something. So I wrote this song and contacted Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. I asked them if they were interested, cause I thought it was a good idea to have England, Holland and Germany coming together. Us coming together to do a track and all the money goes to help people. I think this is the first time this has ever been done in the dance scene, to give back, to help people.”

Both Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren responded positively. Armin van Buuren, who played in front of over 1 million party people at the 2008 edition of the Loveparade, confirms:“For the first time an Englishman, a German and a Dutchman teamed up and became united in the studio, creating a track that I hope people will love and treasure. Our purpose was united in the sense that we wanted to pay homage to those whose lives were lost, and to have their memories live on in the spirit of our record.”

Paul van Dyk, who has been part of the Loveparade ever since the first years, when it was still a political demonstration for peace and international understanding through music, was devastated when he heard about the Duisburg tragedy:“In its last years outside Berlin, the vibe of the Loveparade was a far cry from its original spirit. With ‘Remember Love’, we want to recapture the essence of the Loveparade and try to assist those who suffered by donating all proceeds to charity. It was a great honor to work with Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold on this very important project. Please help us help others.”

‘Remember Love’

‘Remember Love’ will be available under the collaborative name of DJ United from September, 10th on, exclusively on Beatport for 2 weeks. The track will be premiered in the radioshows of Armin van Buuren (A State of Trance), Paul van Dyk (VONYC Sessions) and Paul Oakenfold (Perfecto on Tour) in the week before release. The collaboration is, according to Oakenfold, a true mix of the sounds of the three DJ’s/producers. Oakenfold:”’Remember Love’ has the melodic feel which represents my sound, the emotion and movement which I love of Armin’s sound and the energy and uplifting touch that no one does better than Paul van Dyk. I think it’ll be interesting for people to hear how three artists come together making one song.”

Two years after his debut artist album ‘Pictures’ captured the hearts and minds of trance and electronic dance lovers (and scored one direct dancefloor hit after another), Leon Bolier is ready to return with its sequel. Over 2 discs, 24 across-the-realm tracks and 150 synth-packed minutes, ‘Phantasma’ delivers a stunning auditory proposition… A filler-free, close to compilation-like listening experience; a potential ‘Pictures-killer’ and one that effortlessly jumps the ‘difficult second album’ hurdle. ‘Phantasma’ will again emphasize Bolier’s reputation as the go-to man for trance… with a twist.

Kicking off with a double single whammy of ‘That Morning’ and his latest Sied van Riel collaboration ‘Dark Star’, Leon begins to flip over the cards in ‘Phantasma’s diverse pack. This is not diversity for its own sake though. This is music resolutely aimed to be played in-club across the whole duration of a night – midnight to 9am music – warm-up, peak-time and even, on occasion backroom chill.

‘Phantasma’ many degrees-of-trance leaves no genre corner unexplored. Those of a more atmospheric, ethereal persuasion are well catered for with the likes of ‘War of the Worlds’ (sampling the infamous radio dialogue), the stark, raging riffs of Marcus Schössow collaboration ‘2099’ and trance-progressive offerings like ‘Creek’ and ‘The Attic’. Wherever you are in the album though, afterburning floor-threats are never far away – euphorically minded endorphin trip-switchers designed to activate peak-time dancefloor citizens. ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, ‘Highland Walk’ ‘Assembly Line’, ‘Avalanche’, ‘The Knights Approach’ all take their turn under the laser, tearing loose floor-tiles along the way. As with ‘Pictures’ there are also plenty of hi-vis producer team-ups on offer… Dirtier, moodier numbers like the Joint Operations Centre (John O’Callaghan) co-op dovetail with melodic sun-kissed island odysseys like Leon and Roger Shah’s Ibiza-gazing ‘Eden’.

Vocals are rare across Leon’s discography but on ‘Phantasma’ when they do arrive they do so with substantial impact. For ‘By Your Side’ he tracked down the talents of US singer Fisher, who subsequently delivered a heart-stoppingly, elegant vocal core to the track. Elsewhere on the discs, Leon’s new Netherlander discovery Marieke de Kruijff adds her honey-drop tones to ‘Irresistible’ and ‘Substitute’ and Australian singer Alana Aldea lends melancholic lament to ‘The Sweetest Lie’.

Seasoned album buyers will be aware that around the 12 track mark your average artist long-player starts to fade out. As with ‘Pictures’ double-disc bumper edition though, Leon’s second album could very well have been his forth. ‘Phantasma’s second disc ushers in tracks like the Haruki Murakama inspired (and melodically beguiling) ‘Shimamoto’, as well as ‘Saturn’ his anthemic, cinematic dark trance head-to-head-with new Dutch sensation W&W. And on ‘Fly Back to Her’ he re-teams with his ‘Strike One’ sparring partner, Joop for a tech-fried, tightly percussive outing.

Through its run-time ‘Phantasma’ achieves the perfect balance – an album of audacious audio that is equally at home on the car stereo as it is in the clubs making the bass-bins pound and the speakers sweat. It’s out on the 31st of August.

it`s some time, I`m bringing music from the best events for all people over the world, so they can listen they favourite dj`s and enjoy the music at comfort home. I never ask for help, but now is the time I really need your help.

It maybe sound crazy, funny, fake, but I really need financial help. I`m person, who finishing university. I can`t afford to buy professional stuff for production of music and dj set for live act. I arranged student loan during my studies, so I could buy some stuff on production. I would like buy professional dj set Pioneer, but I don`t have money for that. Ahoj,

je to už čas, čo ľudom z celého sveta prinášam hudbu z tých najlepších eventov, aby si mohli doma v pohodlí vypočuť svojho obľúbeného dj-a. Nikdy som nepotreboval pomoc. Ale nastal čas, kedy ju už potrebujem.

Možno to bude znieť šialene, smiešne, klamstvo a ja ešte neviem ako, ale ja potrebujem finančnú pomoc. O čo ide? Som človek, ktorý končí vysokú školu a nemôže si dovoliť kúpiť profesionálne veci na tvorbu hudby a dj set na živé hranie. Počas štúdia som si vybavil študentskú pôžičku, aby som si mohol kúpiť pár vecí na produkciu hudby. Lenže peniaze na profesionálny dj set pioneer nemám a kým by som si niečo také mohol dovoliť kúpiť (pôžička, nasporil), tak by prešlo veľa času. Takýto dj set stojí cca 4000 €, čo nie je malá čiastka. Presnejšie ide o toto:
